Things To Do: Fishing Charters





 



Indulge yourself with a thrilling day on the water "Westcoast Fishing" for Halibut and Salmon. Reeling in the big one takes on new meaning with halibut as large as 700lbs! 

Abbeymoore is pleased to partner with "Doug's Gone Fishing" charters conveniently located in Victoria's inner harbour. Your Captain, Doug Holloway, has decades of fishing and guiding experience around the local waters of Vancouver Island, and the Queen Charlotte Islands.

His brand new vessel – a 29′ Grady White Sailfish - has top of the line electronics and tackle, giving you the best chance of landing a great catch while staying comfortable and having the time of your life!

When the day is done bring your catch back to Abbeymoore and we'll grill it for you (as long as you'll share!)

Rates

$ 500 for a half day (5 hrs)
$ 800 full day (8hrs)
$100 for every additional hr

We Supply

  • Rods and reels 
  • All tackle, gear and bait 
  • Private stand-up indoor washroom 
  • GPS mapping 
  • Radar 
  • Commercial grade fish finder 
  • Electric downriggers 
  • All safety supplies (life jackets, VHF marine radio, etc.) 
  • Cooler 
  • Fish bags
  • Fish cleaning 
  • Fuel 
  • Boat which features a heated indoor cabin with private marine head (bathroom)

You should bring:

  • Fishing license with salmon tag 
  • Sunscreen 
  • Sunglasses
  • Dress in layers if you want to spend time on the outside deck*
  • Hat
  • Camera
  • Beverages (water, coffee, tea, pop,etc.)
  • Light snack and lunch
  • Motion sickness remedies (gravol or acupressure wrist bands)
  • MP3 format tunes (if you have favorite music you want to listen to)
  • A cooler to take home your catch (leave this in your vehicle) 

*Dress in layers if you plan on staying outside and on deck. The weather at sea can range from cold and wet to hot and sunny all in one day! 

Licenses

By law you must possess a Tidal Waters Sport Fishing license to fish for any species of finfish or shellfish in British Columbia's salt waters. If you wish to fish for salmon you must also purchase and attach a Salmon Conservation stamp to your licence.

For your convenience, Doug's Gone Fishing Charters is an approved Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) license vendor. Buy your licence on board before we depart and you know you have it with you.

Licences are sold at many local sporting goods stores as well as from the DFO web site.

Just make sure you print your copy once you're approved and bring it with you.
