If you know what this means you must have been to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. What an experience! Each year various organizations called Krewes hold incredible parades with extravagantly decorated floats upon which Krewe members ride. Each Krewe has a dedicated "Throw" item such as Zulu's coconuts and Rex's dubloons. Crowds gather along the parade route and yell "Throw me something Mister" in the hopes that they will catch one of these highly sought after trinkets.
It used to be that all the major krewes where exclusively male but in the yr 2000 a group of woman formed the Krewe of Muses which has grown to be one of the most popular parades in all of Mardi Gras. Muses' famous throws are highly decorated shoes like this one which Anne got in March and now decorates the mantel at Abbeymoore!
Luckily for us our good friend and fellow B&B owner Karma Ashton is a parading member of Muses so we had an "INNsider's" view of Mardi Gras 2010. Sad to say the weather didn't cooperate for the parade but the after party went on without a hitch. Dubbed the "aMUSEment" this bash was something to behold. The food was catered by the legendary Jacques Imo's, the bar was open and the house band was the B-52's. It was a real "Love Shack" and I can assure you lobsters never "rocked" like this! Whose tin roof rusted anyway!
