Valentines In Victoria

posted on February 3, 2014 by Kara Johancsik

With our temperate climate, quaint architecture, gorgeous gardens and stunning ocean vistas, it’s no wonder that Victoria has been voted one of the best romantic getaways in Canada and North America. If you’re planning an escape with someone special, we’ve come up with a few ideas on what to do to spoil yourself and your special someone.

1) Cook together
(c) London ChefThe London Chef offers gourmet-cooking classes throughout the month of February.  There’s nothing more romantic than cooking together, so learn something new and enroll in a class together to give yourselves skills you can take home and try later! The London Chef covers everything from Deep South comfort cooking, to rustic Italian, Spanish tapas, and West Coast shellfish. They’re also offering a special Valentines Day Date Night on February 15, where you can learn the secrets of gourmet French cooking. Or, learn to bake tasty Valentine’s treats during their Sweet Little Valentines class on February 8th.  These classes are popular, so book early!

2) Eat together
With waterfront views, local-food focus, and cozy nooks galore, the restaurant scene in Victoria is ideal for all things romantic. Enjoy a multi-course meal at five-star Ulla restaurant, or cozy up at Stage Wine Bar before a play at the Belfry. Visit Victoria’s famous Pagliacci’s for an ideal Italian meal, or treat yourself to something small, sweet and tasty at Bon Macaron Patisserie. And that’s just the start! Our restaurant partners always offer memorable meals, and dining with them can be included with your stay as part of one of our accommodation packages.

3) Dance together
Live music at Swan’s Brewpub always makes for a fun date night. Jive or swing on Monday and Tuesday, and rock out to classic covers on Friday and Saturday. Check out their full schedule for live music here. Or, learn to salsa and tango at Café Casablanca on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays.

4) Walk together
Victoria has so many beautiful promenades for you and your loved one that you’ll have a hard time deciding where to start. Meander along Dallas Road for a beautiful view of the ocean, stroll along the beaches, walk along Ogden Point Pier to the lighthouse, or hike up Mount Tolmie for a view of the city. If you’re adventurous, head to Mount Douglas Park for more great views, or rent a bike and explore the Galloping Goose Trail! Ask your innkeeper for trail locations and details.

5) Stay together!
And where better than a fabulous historic Bed & Breakfast Inn ...
